There are so many news items suggesting a breakthrough in solar power with great efficiencies and low cost.Yet I don't see these on the market yet?

Will it be possible to have low cost high efficient panels soon? Would it then be possible to have panels on every house. I know that in Germany roof tops are now being rented for solar PVs  - this is because they have very generous feed in tariffs.

Maybe I am a dreamer but if everyone could afford solar in say the UK or the USA wouldn't this make a lot of difference?

What might be possible? - anyone have a vision on where we might be ion 5 or ten years?
